Foot, Ankle, Knee, or Hip Pain?

So far this week, I’ve had a couple people already talking to me about foot and ankle pain, knee pain, hip pain, and people are getting out walking a lot more and a big factor in the foot, ankle, knee, and hip pain that we see is flip-flops.

So, just a friendly reminder that make sure if you’re wearing flip flops, they have some kind of support in them. There are brands that are better than others for that. And if you’re starting to experience foot, ankle, knee, hip pain, we can address that. I can do some adjusting in the feet and ankles, knees and hips.

We’ve also got some other therapies that are fantastic for it. So plantar fasciitis, achilles heel pain, any kind of restrictions in the foot and ankle and knees and hips, we are happy and able to work with.

So, I hope to chat soon. Everyone get outside and enjoy some awesomeness this weekend.

Benefits of Fasting

You’re becoming more healthy, your cells are becoming more healthy. And so some of the benefits compared through these three different types of intermittent fasting were super interesting to me.

The alternate day and the 5:2 both saw very, very similar results in a lot of the categories. So the first one was an overall reduction in body weight.

The average, I want to say 12 to 16-week window, was a 5 to 7% loss in body weight. More importantly, what does that doing physiologically?

So, both these groups, the alternate day and the 5:2, see a significant reduction in blood pressure, cholesterol, LDL, HDL, total cholesterol, and triglycerides.

They see a decrease in fasting insulin. They see a decrease in insulin resistance. They see a decrease in inflammation and they see a decrease in oxidative stress, which means that metabolically, you’re becoming more healthy. Your cells are becoming more healthy.

Preventing Headaches In Kids

How can you prevent your kids from getting headaches?

Number one, hydrate. Kids are notorious for not getting enough water. We see it during the day. However, normally at school, we can gauge how much water they’re getting, because we send them a bottle of water at the beginning of the day.

Number two, just like you have to set yourself up for the right workstation, you have to worry about that with your kids also. So take a look at what can you do to raise the monitor for the kids, or in a lot of times, they’re up here trying to type or work or move a mouse, because their chair isn’t high enough.

Number three, make sure they’re moving, right. A lot of times kids, you know, they’ve got gym class as part of their curriculum.

However, during a normal school day, they’re going to have gym class, they’re going to have several recesses. They’re going to have a lot of other things to be doing. So, what we’ve done with our kids, you know, we have designated times where they’re going outside.

The Number One Reason Kids Are Getting Headaches

Even kids should have a nice neck curve, which supports the weight of their head.

The number one reason kids are getting headaches is, you know, they’re looking down like this all day long.

Kids are not meant to do that. You know, we’re getting a lot of kids coming in right now where their necks are completely straight.

Now, that isn’t been from school starting in the last two weeks, however, it’s been a chronic issue and now we’re adding school on top of it. And so, normally, even kids should have a nice neck curve, which supports the weight of their head. If they’re looking down all day at tablets or monitors or computers, that weight of the head starts to shift forward, their muscles start to engage just like it does with adults. And that causes tension headaches.

How Do We Stop Kids From Getting Headaches?

We’re seeing more and more kids coming in right now because of headaches.

Number one, we have to stop where it starts, which is working on the kids’ posture, making sure that they are set up correctly so they’re not looking down all day.

Number two, there are exercises and therapy exercises that your kids can do to work on getting that curve back into their neck.

Most importantly, though, you need to make sure their nervous system is functioning correctly. That’s where our chiropractic adjustment comes in.

If there was one thing that I see that I probably have the most success with and that I enjoy working on with anybody, whether it’s kids or adults, it’s headaches.

And so we see a ton of headache cases in the office. I’m happy to look at your kids. It is completely safe for kids to get adjusted. I’ve worked on my kids since they were infants, but we’re seeing more and more kids coming in right now because of headaches.

Headaches Are A Major Issue For Kids

Their posture is horrible right now. Headaches are a major issue for kids right now.

So first of all, why is this happening? Number one, you’ve got stress, right? Things are completely different for kids right now. They’re not going to tell you that they carry stress in their shoulders.

They’re going to say at the end of the day, I have a headache.

The number two thing going on for most kids or for a lot of kids right now is they’re sitting in front of a computer all day.

Kids were not meant to be sitting in front of a computer all day. So I don’t want to get into whether or not kids should be doing that. That’s the reality for a lot of kids dealing with school right now, sitting in front of a computer, an iPad all day. So that’s a big issue for kids.

Number three, because they’re doing that, their posture is horrible right now, and they’re not getting as much motion and movement as usual. Right?

A lot of kids looking down all day at a tablet or they’re sitting at the kitchen table or at some other workstation, you know, in front of a computer with the shoulders hunched over as part of class and doing their schoolwork all day.

So those are big issues and no, it’s not normal for kids to be getting headaches.

What type of Intermittent Faster Are You?

One day, you eat as much as you want and whatever you want, the next day you fast.

Intermittent fasting is a broad category, which is then broken up into three usual different types.

So, one form of intermittent fasting is alternate-day fasting. So, one day you eat as much as you want and whatever you want, the next day you fast and are only drinking black tea, water, or coffee, or some combination of those.

So that’s one.

Number two was a 5:2 fast, where for five days a week you’re eating, again, whatever you want, however much you want, no limits on what, when, or how you’re eating. But for two days a week you’re, again, fasting for a complete two days. That can be two days consecutively.

The third is the time-restricted eating or time-restricted feeding is what they’re calling it.

And again, know that there’s a million ways to do this.

Normally it’s ranging anywhere from a four to eight to ten hour, twelve hours it’s tough to say that that’s a true fast, but you know, anywhere from a four to twelve hour eating window.

Outside of that, you don’t consume any calories except through water or possibly coffee.
